About ADAPT
For individuals and families in the central Vancouver Island region who need help dealing with youth drug abuse or addiction, ADAPT offers solutions. We support and assist young people, their families, and their ommunity to overcome drug abuse and drug addiction, through education, treatment and counseling services.
ADAPT stands for Alcohol & Drug Abuse Prevention & Treatment. This summarizes both our goal and our services. We work to prevent teen alcohol and drug abuse and we offer treatment for young people striving to conquer drug abuse and addiction.
We recognize that youth drug abuse – including alcohol abuse – carries significant physical and mental health risks for young people and their families. We also recognize that sometimes alcohol/drug abuse is a family issue, so the whole family must be involved in prevention and treatment.
ADAPT is a non-profit organization supported by the Vancouver Island Health Authority. This funding demonstrates the importance to the community of keeping our youth and families free of alcohol and drug abuse.
In providing services to young people and families, ADAPT staff believe:
- As a client, you are entitled to absolute confidentiality
- As a client, you are entitled to respect and a safe environment
- As a client, you are entitled to services which are based on sound principals and ethical practices
- As a client, you are entitled to support services which will help you achieve your goals
- As a client, you are entitled to receive information and appropriate services, regardless of your involvement with drugs or alcohol.
